Inflation

See how a steady rise in prices could change a future expense.

Example values are shown. Change them to explore your situation.

How this estimate works

Future cost = cost today × (1 + annual inflation / 100)^years.

Assumes the same nonnegative inflation rate each year. This is a scenario, not a forecast or a country-specific inflation estimate. Individual expenses may change differently.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Bring the right numbers.

Estimates are enough to explore. Keep every money amount in the same selected currency.

  1. 01

The cost of one expense in today’s money.

  2. 02

    A hypothetical annual inflation rate.

  3. 03

    A whole-number period in years.

MAKE THE RESULT USEFUL

What to look for.

Start with the cost of a specific expense today. Change the time horizon or assumed rate to explore possible future costs. This is a constant-rate scenario, not a prediction of prices in your country.

TRY ANOTHER SCENARIO

Change one thing.
Notice the difference.

Keep today’s cost fixed and compare two rates. Longer periods make the cumulative effect more visible, even though this scenario assumes the same rate every year.

A FEW THINGS YOU MAY BE WONDERING

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Does this use current inflation data for my country?

No. You enter a hypothetical annual rate. The country selector controls currency formatting only; it does not load inflation data or convert exchange rates.

Can I model prices falling?

This tool accepts nonnegative rates only. Zero keeps the cost unchanged. It does not model deflation or different rates in different years.
