How this estimate works

Net worth = cash + investments + property − loans − other debts.

Use current estimates, include each asset or debt only once, and include any mortgage alongside the property value. This snapshot does not account for taxes or selling costs.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Bring the right numbers.

Estimates are enough to explore. Keep every money amount in the same selected currency.

  1. 01

Current estimates for cash, investments, and property.

  2. 02

Outstanding loan and credit balances from the same date.

  3. 03

A check that each asset and debt appears only once.

MAKE THE RESULT USEFUL

What to look for.

Use a consistent date for your estimates. Include the value of a property and its outstanding mortgage separately, and avoid counting an account twice. A net-worth total is a snapshot, not a measure of available spending money.

TRY ANOTHER SCENARIO

Change one thing.
Notice the difference.

Update one estimate at a time to see how it affects the total. Keep the date of your snapshot consistent; changing asset dates without updating debts can make comparisons misleading.

A FEW THINGS YOU MAY BE WONDERING

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Should I subtract the mortgage from my property value first?

Enter the property’s estimated value under assets and the outstanding mortgage under loans. Subtracting the mortgage first and then listing it as a loan would count the debt twice.

Does a positive net worth mean that amount is available to spend?

No. Property and retirement accounts are not the same as available cash. This snapshot also excludes taxes and selling costs, so it is not an estimate of cash you could immediately access.
